You know that I love to decorate for all the seasons, holidays and special events. A few months ago I made a Fall Home Decor Tour and recently I made a Thanksgiving Home Decor Tour. This is just to show you how I decorate on a budget. You don't have to get all fancy, just use what you have or find things on clearance, garage sales and thrift stores. You'll be amazed at what you can find for super cheap. That's how I roll!
Do you like to decorate for fall, have you made a video on that. Leave a link in the comment below if you have.
Yay, it's week 3, but also sad it's almost over, I hope she does a Christmas Challenge too!!
So week 3 is Family Fun Night...so fun we have been doing this off and on. But this week I am going to make a point to do it. We usually do Movie Night on Sundays, or walks, Mondays is a busy day for me so sometimes if I go groceries late we can't do much. Some Tuesdays nights I'm not home, so it's a hit and miss for this, like this Tuesday I won't be home, family will be. Wed nights we either stay home or go to Church, just depends. So looks like Thurs or Fri night would be good nights for this. Sat eve's we have soccer games and Sundays like I said we do something anyway. I'm going to have to be creative this week. Let's see what we come up with this week. Do you guys have any suggestions, or what do you do?
Here's this weeks challenge:
Keep your candle burning, the music playing and plan a Family Fun Night. Have a pillow party in the family room and get out every blanket and pillow in the house and be cozy with the kids or your hubby! Even if you live alone you can do this. Enjoy a cozy evening of hot cider and caramel corn. Bust out some old fashioned games and take the time to savor these moments with your loved ones. Work on kindness and joy this week.
Her suggestions sound like so much fun!! Let me know what you are doing for family fun night.
Here is another suggestion for conversation starters for the dinner table. I might try these this week. I will let you know how that goes.
So heres her **Chime In**
How is the Making Your Home a Haven Challenge going in your house? For the most part going well, I remembered almost every day. The days I didn't is because we weren't going be home. And on Sat mornings I do but not on Sundays.
Here's what it pretty much looked like all last week, this week the same. But you get the point. LOL
Do you have your candle and music going? Every morning except for Sunday, I usually forget after we get home for church.
What is your favorite thing to do for fun with your family? Favorite thing to do for fun with family is anything. Anytime I'm with them it's fun making memories. Walks, movie theatres, outings, etc.
What is your favorite board game to play with your family? Favorite board game is "Sorry", it's easy and fun and my daughter always wins. I love her face when she wins.
Share a special memory with your family, from your childhood. I will share when my dad would take us out Christmas Tree shopping and one year he added fake snow to it. That was the best I still remember the day it was a crisp December Evening at it was close to Christmas. So it was a cold one, and I remember the bright light shining in the lot and there must have been a fire going outside because I remember the smell of smoke, not cigarettes but wood burning smoke. And I remember my Dad saying "And add the fake snow". I was the happiest little girl in town that night.
It's week 2 👏!! Did you just love the first week? I did, it did made the house smell yummy, and felt warm and cozy, even though it was warm outside, lol. The girls loved it to coming downstairs in the morning to eat breakfast and read. I'm gonna be honest I didn't do it on the weekend, we had a busy week but it is lit this morning and got my music playing, worship music.
Here's the Challenge:
This week’s challenge:
Keep your candles burning, your prayers going and add soft music in your home.
Choose worship, classical, jazz or another form of peaceful music that the family enjoys. Focus on using peaceful words and maintaining peaceful relationships.
Work on gentleness and self-control this week.
I use my iPad and we listen to Pandora, it's free and you can customize your playlists, from all kinds of Jonras, it's pretty awesome. Love the challenge, can't wait for the Oppt'y to put gentleness and self control into action. I struggle in this, let's keep it real, who doesn't struggle. We all have a flesh. But this week I'm gonna purpose in my heart when I can't do this to pray right away and call on the one who sustains and provides my every lacking need. Jesus!!
I am so excited {{{Squeal, squeal!!!}}} for this Fall Challenge. I always look forward to doing this challenge every year. As I stated in previous post. So today is the first week....yay! {{jumping up for JOY!!}}
Here is this weeks Challenge info, please also click here to check out more of WLW's info on this week.
Week 1 – CHALLENGE:
Go buy an extra large candle and light a candle everyday in your home. I will be starting mine in the morning but you can start yours at dinner time or whenever is convenient for you. I will be placing mine in the kitchen – the main hub of my home.
Each time the glimmer of the candle catches your eye, say a prayer for peace and patience within your home.
You are an environment.
Let’s make our homes feel more like a warm hug than a cold shoulder for all those who find refuge under our roof this week!
So if you already have fall scented you don't need to buy a new. Also if your on a budget the Dollar Tree sells some for $1, they are cute and smell yummy. Another great store that sells amazing smelling candles is Bath and Body works. They are having some sales on their current Fall candles right now, and if you use your 20% you can get some on the cheap.
She wanted us to chime in...here's some questions she asked.
What type of environment are you? Here's a few examples she gave on her blog
Have you ever considered that YOU are an environment? What type of environment are you?
Are you the warm and hospitable type? I can be
Are you the cheery, sunshine type? Sometimes, not all the time.
Are you calm and quiet? Most of the time
Harried and hurried? During parties with lots of people....working on this one.
Irritable and angry? Sometimes, when I'm feeling rushed.
Or perhaps tired and ticked-off? This past weekend I was due to lack of sleep, oh Lord forgive me.
What type of environment are you? All of the above.
What gets in the way of your peace and patience in your home? Satan, my flesh, not relying or trusting in God first. Have you begun to light your candle? What scent is your candle and does your family like the candle? I lit it this weekend, they love coming home to a nice smelling home. Today was cleaning day so I will be lighting one of our new ones. See pics below Here’s a picture of what I’m using this week – I LOVE these scents from Bath and Body works, these I was not planning on buying but I took my daughter and her friends bday shopping. They wanted to go in and I just had to splurge with sales and coupons they came out pretty cheap. Yay!!
Here is another candle, see pic below, I will be using this week as well, I was blessed by a friend last week with this amazing scented candle.
So excited for this challenge! Thanks Courtney again, love you sis, you are such a blessing and Titus 2 Woman for all of us walking with the King!!
Hi friends!!
How are you? So you all know, if you've been subscribed to me for awhile, and if your new you'll soon find out, that I love this season. Fall. Harvest. Autumn. Thanksgiving. Christmas. It's a time where we gather together as family, we do anyway, but it seems during this time there are more opportunities and things to do. In the summer...it's hot where we live, and going to the pool everyday gets boring after awhile. I don't particularly like the summer, besides get togethers and BBQ's and spending time with the family, but that's it,
As I did last year I will be sharing weekly outings, ideas, vlogs, and different things for this season. So if you are not subscribed be sure to subscribe to make sure you don't miss a post or video, you can also subscribe to my youtube videos on right top sidebar.
Last weekend we went to our local orchards Pumpkin Patch, we went on opening day, bright and early, it's a tradition we do every year. It was so much fun, they had a good harvest this year. And they have the best Apple Cider Doughnuts with Apple Butter Frosting yummy!! That day was a busy one, it was also my oldest, daughter, first soccer game of the season. And they won, woohoo!! That was an added blessing (I didn't take pics though 😞)
I also added a Fall Home Decor Tour video {first time ever}. I decorated at the end of August, I just could not wait for Fall this year, Sept 22(?). Fall starts the last week of August for us.
Here's our pics/videos in review. Enjoy!!
Pumpkin Patch Trip 09/27/14
Fall Home Decor Tour 2014
I served at, our girls private schools, Fall Carnival, along side a sweet sis, we had a blast putting it together! Here's some pics of that, it was such a blessing to be able to watch all the families and friends gather to take some silly, cute, interesting pics. I loved it, I was so blessed and had so much fun. I am so thankful for the school, at our church, that our girls attend. The teachers are AMAZING, the staff is AMAZING. We couldn' t have asked for anything more.
I also did some running and walking last week! I love being out in the crisp mornings or evenings in the Fall.
We made for the first time, and added it to our tradition list for Fall, Candied Apple Slices. ok friends, these are by far, hands down the best thing ever. Let me know in the comments below if you want a tutorial. They are super easy, delicious and semi healthy.
Another tradition we have is to grab a PSL {pumpkin spice latte} from Starbucks. I know they are bad for you, the air we breath is bad. But I have at least one of these a year, they are not my fav, but just the memories with my daughter sipping on one. That's what I love! Make sure to ask for extra caramel. I don't drink starbucks all the time maybe 1-4 times a month, if that. I make my own coffee, but every now and then it's a special treat.
Here's a collage of the pumpkin patch...fun, fun, fun times. A friend came along who has never been and it was nice sharing in that memory. Love her!
Hi Friends!! I am so excited!! WLW {Women Living Well }, Courtney, is doing her annual Fall Challenge - Making Your Home Your Haven. I've joined almost every year and love it. I look forward to these challenges. If you would like to join us, just follow her blog, click here or on pic above and check back here too. I am going to be posting something's myself. I would love for you to join us.
Here is some info on it.
From WLW website..
So this challenge is all about living out the word of God within the four walls of our home.
I will be posting about these fall challenges on Mondays.
Each week I will give you one practical tip and one spiritual tip that you can do to create a haven in your home.
Is your calendar full? Do you feel tense, rushed and even panicked at times? Do you feel like the rest of the family is feeling the same way?
I believe we can create a physical environment, as well as a spiritual environment, that can bring peace, harmony and a sense of calmness to our homes if we are willing to be intentional.
This challenge will run through the month of October and please go to he website to watch Her video.
Here's what the first week will look like.
“The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down.” ~ Proverbs 14:1
Here’s the topic schedule:
Week 1: October 6th -Go buy an extra large candle and light a candle everyday in your home.
I will be starting mine in the morning but you can start yours at dinner time or whenever is convenient for you.. I will be placing mine in the kitchen – the main hub of my home. Each time the candle catches your eye, say a prayer for peace in your home.
Here's what I will be using this year, for this challenge. It came at a perfect time, a sweet friend came over a couple days ago and blessed me with this amazing smelling candle. Thanks Amiga!! 😊
Today, Sept 1, 2014, is the begining of Fall for me! My house is already decorated, no more signs of summer here. September couldn't have come any sooner!!! I like summer, and only if I'm in air conditioned room or in a pool. Other than that you most likely won't see me outside for long.
This month I will be posting vlogs, pics, and anything I can on faith.fall.family and fun, as I did last year! So be sure to come back weekly to see what I post. If you would like to be notified just subscribe to this blog and you will receive an email anytime I post something.
I am also doing Women Living Well's - 'Good Morning Girls" with my close friends {shout out! Love you mucho girls}. If you have not ever done this bible study, I highly recommend it.
The Womens Bible Study will be starting up soon, at our church, and I'm excited to be serving in the ministry this season {in quite a few places}. It's quite exciting for me because I've not been involved in a little under a year, due to being sick and prego and then baby and well life. So it's good to be back, thank you Jesus for using me in this way. I was in prayer about serving again and ladies as soon as you pray and let go of it....God answers. He opened up a few doors. It's the surrendering to Him, everytime without a doubt as soon as I let it go, and leave it in His hands... He answers. And boy does He answer, I was just overwhelmed with just feeling so blessed and being able to serve Him in many ways.
Ok, so with that being said I wanted to share what I've been doing to prepare and such.
Here's a wreath I made at the begining of August...can you tell I just couldn't wait to prepare. LOL
I will be posting more as time goes on and sharing some more videos!!
Can you believe that Fall is just around the corner. Well for me decorating started this past week {08/25/14}. If you've known me or have followed me for awhile, you already know this. I also join in on a few ladies blogs and challenges that I follow. Such as Courtney over @ Women Living Well {Hey girl!!} she does a challenge called Making your Home your Haven. This starts in the Fall, and there are a few others as well that I will be posting about soon. So to give you an idea of what will be going on here the next couple of months up until after Thanksgiving. I will be posting things about Faith. Fall. Family and Fun!! I will probably do what I did last year and post weekly pics and might add some videos this year. I will share our outings, events, gatherings and craft projects. So be sure to subscribe so you won't miss what's going on around here.
Thank you so much for all my new subscribers and if your here from Youtube a big huge hug and "welcome!!" Let me know in the comments if there is anything you'd like to see on here. Feel free to browse around and use the search engine on the left side bar to see last's years Fall post. You can just type in fall and that tag will pull up all those posts. Ok...I will be seeing you soon!!
Ok...and here's a little secret...Did you know that ....Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte {PSL} is in most stores now!! There's been a little confusion over when the drink would actually return, but a Starbucks spokesperson confirmed that PSLs would be available as early as today {Tues, 08/26/14} if all the clues were solved, translating to an "unlocked" Starbucks. Intheir own words:
On Tuesday morning, August 26, customers who show the PSL password (or say it) to a barista in their local Starbucks store will “unlock” the beverage early, making the seasonal latte available to everyone who visits the store. The first customer who unlocks a store will be acknowledged by having his or her name displayed on an in-store sign. Fans may unlock as many stores as they’d like.
So do participate and see if your store got it's PSL unlocked. I'm headed there very soon!
Thank you Sarah Mae for putting this all together, I am having so much fun doing {not by myself this time}. Well here's what we have been doing so far.
Week 1 we got all our fall stuff out and we decorated our homes and ourselves and are ready for fall!!!
Week 2 we splurged a little on a Fall drink, planned out a Fall Gathering and Fall Activities
Week 3
So many fun things going on at Sarah Mae's blog.
First here are the challenges for this week:
1.) If you haven't done so decorate your home. CHECK
2.) going T.V. free this week, and I’m making my kiddos do the same. This will be a challenge but can be done!!
And then hop on over to Sarah's site, click here, she is giving away Woodwick candles, and I hear these are amazing!!!
It has been so much fun and a blessing doing this challenge, I even got an early start...shhh!!!
Here are this week's challenges {Squeal!! love them!!}
1.) If you can swing it, treat yourself to a yummy fall drink. My indulgences of choice are a Salted Caramel Mocha from Starbucks, Chai Latte's or the Pumpkin Spice Latte's {YUMM!!!!}
2.) Plan a “First Day of Fall” (or “Happy Fall Ya’ll!”) celebration! This can be just with your family, your kids during the day or after school, or something you invite friends to. The 22nd falls on a Sunday, this is so much fun. I try to do this every year! Fall Fun, food and fellowship you can't go wrong. I've got mine planned!
3.) Get your calendar out and plan some fun fall activitie/fall bucket lists! You probably already have some fall traditional activities that you do each year, but try and find something new as well. Go to your town’s website and check out the calendar to see what fun things are planned for this month. I've already planned things and will be adding a new thing this year.
So friends, what’s on your agenda this week to savor September? I want to know so I get some more ideas!
P.S. Tonight is the first Webinar in the Discipleship & Discipline e-Course! See email below Sally will be talking about Laying a Foundation of Love with your children – see the full course description here. There is still time to sign up (700 people are already joining us)!
I am joining Sarah Mae with her challenge for "Savoring September". And I am so loving decorating and getting ready FALL. And will be sharing with you what I've done..... Yes, it's been so much fun!
Here are my "Fallonizing My Home" ideas this week:
Here are just a few things I have done. If you don't have that much it's OK, start small. When I first started decorating I used things I had on hand, and then brought stuff from the outside in like: pine cones, leaves etc. That was when I first started decorating for fall, many years ago and little by little I accumulated a few things. You can view previous posts here, here, here, and here.
Also the best time to shop for Holiday deco is after the Holidays, you will get stuff at rock bottom prices from 70-90% off. Even now, if you can't wait until after, they have 40-50% off Fall stuff. You just have to look and keep an eye out. I also scored allot of great stuff at yard sales, thrift stores and discount stores. the dollar tree and 99 cents stores have tons of cute stuff too. So really you can put together some cute stuff in no time. It doesn't have to be fancy, just whatever gives you warm fuzzies. LOL...so here is what I did. Every ones taste is different, so go with what you like.
Before Fallonizing: Dining Room Tables-cape
After Fallonization: Dining Tablescape {simple, nothing fancy]
Before: Dining Room Hutch
After: Dining Room Hutch
You can also start out with a small candle that has a fall scent to it, there are so many yummy smelling candles out there. I have a Scentsy candle, I got many many years ago and it's still working. But Walmart sells those types of candle warmers for cheap. But they don't work as well as the Scentsy one, I have both. Walmart also sells the little candle cubes to put in them for really cheap as well. My family is allergic to regular wick candles so I don't burn those. But I do have them around the house as deco, but don't use them. The Scentsy candle warmer, has so far, worked the best. The smells resonate for a long time in the house and it doesn't bother us too much.
So to start out:
{here's my list}
Fall Aroma: Light a Fall scented, yummy, candle. CHECK
Fall Decorations: This week pull out a few fallish decorations, as I've done already, and begin to prepare your home for a new season!! CHECK
Pick out a Fall book: I am following Denise in Bloom and will be joining her when her Fall Book "The Autumn Bliss" Ebook comes out this September. Waiting for it to come out.
Fallonize Yourself : With a fallish color nail polish, I also dye my hair around this time. CHECK
This Fall color I chose is from Revlon: 043 Forbidden. I love it!!
Make Fall Food: Here's what I made, I will share the links so you can try them out too!! CHECK
Pumpkin, Banana, Chocolate Chip Bread!!
{made this on Friday}
Pumpkin Spice Latte, Pumpkin Bread &
Coffee Cake
{made this, this Sat morn'in}
Denise in Bloom shared a Fall recipe, on her blog on Friday, "Pumpkin Banana Chocolate Chip Bread" {check it out here} . It makes a ton I used one regular loaf pan and had 3 mini loafs. I shared one with a friend and they liked it. Family loved it as well, this one is a keeper.
Since I couldn't make it to Starbucks this morning I decided to make my own Pumpkin Spice latte to accompany my breakfast desserts {see pics above}. I've posted this recipe before, go check it out...click here. I make this throughout the Fall every year.
Reflect: I loved the quote Sarah Mae posted. CHECK
“Let’s think of Autumn as a season of reflection. Time to gain new perspective. To stroll along the back roads of our minds. To think about what. And where. And why. Such visits through the museum of memory never fail to assist us in evaluating the way we were and establishing the way we want to be.” -Chuck Swindoll, Growing Strong in the Seasons of Life - See more
This week, take some time to think about your life. What are you hoping for this year? What are some areas that you’d like to see a maturing in your life? Your kids lives? Journal out one area you’d like to be intentional about this month – an area of strength that you’d like to improve, or perhaps a weakness you’d like to address. Just focus on one thing. Working on this
What is the truth? Truth is not a feeling. Truth is not an idea. The truth is found in the Bible.Sincerity and good works do not bridge the gap of sin between God and man. Only the blood of Jesus can cleanse a person (Heb. 9:22; John 14:6). Sincerity and good works are merely the reliance upon what is in the individual to merit favor with God. Sincerity is a form of pride when it is appealed to as a justification for being accepted by God: "But God, look at my heart. See how sincere I was? I deserve to be in heaven."No. If sincerity and good works were good enough to satisfy God, then He wouldn't have given us the Bible to correct our sincerely wrong ideas, and He wouldn't have sent His Son to do what our good works cannot.Truth is what God says is true. The truth is important not because it is simply true. It is important because truth is what defines who and what we believe in.Eternity is a long time to be wrong. Especially about Jesus.
What me and my Family Believe
What We Believe WE BELIEVE the worship of God should be spiritual! Therefore we remain flexible so the Holy Spirit may direct our worship. WE BELIEVE the worship of God should be inspirational! Therefore we give a great place to music in our worship. WE BELIEVE the worship of God should be intelligent! Therefore, in our services, we emphasize Bible teaching so God may instruct us how He would be worshipped. WE BELIEVE the worship of God should be fruitful! Therefore we look for His love in our lives as the greatest evidence that we are truly worshipping Him.
How To Know God
How to Know God
Realize that you are a sinner. No matter how good a life we try to live, we still fall miserably short of being a good person. That is because we are all sinners. We all fall short of God’s desire for us to be holy. The Bible says, “No one is good—not even one” (Romans 3:10 NLT). This is because we cannot become who we are supposed to be without Jesus Christ.Recognize that Jesus Christ died on the cross for you.The Bible tells us, “But God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while were still sinners” (Romans 5:8 NLT). This is the Good News, that God loves us so much that He sent His only Son to die in our place when we least deserved it.Repent of your sin.The Bible tells us to “repent and be converted” (Acts 3:19 NKJV). The word repent means to change our direction in life. Instead of running from God, we can run toward Him.Receive Jesus Christ into your life.Becoming a Christian is not merely believing some creed or going to church on Sunday. It is having Christ Himself take residence in your life and heart. Jesus said, “Behold, I stand at the door (of your life) and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in...” (Revelation 3:20 NKJV).
If you would like to have a relationship with Christ, simply pray this prayer and mean it in your heart.
Dear Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner. I believe you died for my sins. Right now, I turn from my sins and open the door of my heart and life. I confess you as my personal Lord and Savior. Thank you for saving me. Amen.If you just prayed that prayer and meant it, Jesus Christ has now taken residence in your heart! Your decision to follow Christ means God has forgiven you and that you will spend eternity in heaven.
The Bible tells us, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9 NKJV).
Praise the Lord, if you just asked Jesus in your heart I want you to know that the Angels in Heaven are rejoicing for you and so am I. Go to http://www.calvarychapel.com/?show=Churches and click on churches to find the closest church to you and go. Go and tell them that you've just accepted the Lord Jesus Christ into your heart. They will be able to lead you to the next step.
God Bless you Brethren. In the Mighty Name of Jesus!!! Amen!!! Your sister in Christ Jesus!!! Adrienne
