Resurrection Day! He is Risen!! He is Risen Indeed
Today's Reading: Mark 16:1-7
1 When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus' body. 2 Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb 3 and they asked each other, "Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?" 4 But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away. 5 As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed. 6 "Don't be alarmed," he said. "You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him. 7 But go, tell his disciples and Peter, 'He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.' "

Activity: Go to church, have a resurrection egg hunt, make easter baskets with a christian theme. See Friday's post on that.

" Light in the Darkness" Easter Eve
Today's Reading: Matt 27:57-66

57 As evening approached, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who had himself become a disciple of Jesus. 58 Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus' body, and Pilate ordered that it be given to him. 59 Joseph took the body, wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, 60 and placed it in his own new tomb that he had cut out of the rock. He rolled a big stone in front of the entrance to the tomb and went away. 61 Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were sitting there opposite the tomb.

The Guard at the Tomb

62 The next day, the one after Preparation Day, the chief priests and the Pharisees went to Pilate.63 "Sir," they said, "we remember that while he was still alive that deceiver said, 'After three days I will rise again.' 64 So give the order for the tomb to be made secure until the third day. Otherwise, his disciples may come and steal the body and tell the people that he has been raised from the dead. This last deception will be worse than the first." 65 "Take a guard," Pilate answered. "Go, make the tomb as secure as you know how." 66 So they went and made the tomb secure by putting a seal on the stone and posting the guard.

Activity: Make cookies and prepare Resurrection Rolls.

Christ Centered Easter Baskets

I found this back in 2007 and have been using it ever since. I love making Easter baskets for my girls but did not want it to be about the bunny. Because it's not. I was praying about it and came across how to make one that was Christ-centered and ever since then I've been doing it. I wanted to share with you....

Here is what you will need:

  • A Basket of your choice...I like to go with plain ones with no clip art of bunnies or anything like that. Can be any color.
  • A Lamb, can be stuffed animal, or a candy
  • 2 Plastic Eggs:

1- Any color consisting of jelly beans in these colors:
Black: Stands for the darkness of our lives before Jesus when we were still in sin
Red: Stands for Jesus shed blood
White: Stands for our sins that are washed away
Yellow: Stands for streets of gold in Heaven
Green: Stands for growing in Jesus
2-An empty egg, mark on it perm marker "He Is Risen" on the outside. the egg is empty for the                        Empty tomb.

  • Bookmark or Storybook or video from the bible book store that represent the story of Easter. My girls are older now so a movie works or jewlery with crosses on it.
  • Rock Candy to represnt the stone that was rolled away. You can also use the Reeses egg candy it somewhat resembles the rock.
  • Chocolate coins to remind us of the 30 pieces of silver
  • Candy represents all the blessings He has given us.

May you have a blessed Good Friday!

Good Friday | Crucifixtion
Today's Reading: Luke 23:39-43
39 One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: "Aren't you the Christ? Save yourself and us!" 40 But the other criminal rebuked him. "Don't you fear God," he said, "since you are under the same sentence? 41 We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong." 42 Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom. " 43 Jesus answered him, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise."

Activity: Make a cross out of twigs, or popsicle sticks {be creative}, put some white flowers in a vase and put on your mantle or tablescape. Watch Passion of the Christ or the Gospel of John, Make Hot Cross buns {or cinnamon rolls}.

"The Last Supper"
Today's Reading: Luke 22:7-23, Matt 26:17-19
7 Then came the day of Unleavened Bread on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed. 8Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, "Go and make preparations for us to eat the Passover." 9"Where do you want us to prepare for it?" they asked. 10 He replied, "As you enter the city, a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him to the house that he enters, 11 and say to the owner of the house, 'The Teacher asks: Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?' 12 He will show you a large upper room, all furnished. Make preparations there." 13 They left and found things just as Jesus had told them. So they prepared the Passover.14 When the hour came, Jesus and his apostles reclined at the table. 15 And he said to them, "I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. 16 For I tell you, I will not eat it again until it finds fulfillment in the kingdom of God." 17 After taking the cup, he gave thanks and said, "Take this and divide it among you. 18 For I tell you I will not drink again of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes." 19 And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, "This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me." 20 In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you. 21 But the hand of him who is going to betray me is with mine on the table. 22The Son of Man will go as it has been decreed, but woe to that man who betrays him." 23 They began to question among themselves which of them it might be who would do this.

Matt 26:17-19
On the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus and asked, "Where do you want us to make preparations for you to eat the Passover?" 18 He replied, "Go into the city to a certain man and tell him, 'The Teacher says: My appointed time is near. I am going to celebrate the Passover with my disciples at your house.' " 19 So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them and prepared the Passover.

Activity: Make a loaf of bread and have communion, or do your own sedar.

"Judas Plots to Kill Jesus"
Today's Reading: Luke 22:1-6
1 Now the Feast of Unleavened Bread, called the Passover, was approaching, 2 and the chief priests and the teachers of the law were looking for some way to get rid of Jesus, for they were afraid of the people. 3 Then Satan entered Judas, called Iscariot, one of the Twelve. 4 And Judas went to the chief priests and the officers of the temple guard and discussed with them how he might betray Jesus. 5 They were delighted and agreed to give him money. 6 He consented, and watched for an opportunity to hand Jesus over to them when no crowd was present.

Whoever betrays Christ, or his truths or ways, it is Satan that puts them upon it.

Activity: Make a forgiving box or jar..write out your sins or things holding onto a piece of paper fold it up and put it in there. ask for God's forgiveness at the end of the week put it thru a shredder. And kknow that God has forgiven you of all your sins, as far as the east is from the west.

JESUS ANNOINTED
Reading: John 12:1-7
1 Six days before the Passover, Jesus arrived at Bethany, where Lazarus lived, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. 2 Here a dinner was given in Jesus' honor. Martha served, while Lazarus was among those reclining at the table with him. 3 Then Mary took about a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus' feet and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. 4 But one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, who was later to betray him, objected, 5 "Why wasn't this perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was worth a year's wages. " 6 He did not say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief; as keeper of the money bag, he used to help himself to what was put into it. 7"Leave her alone," Jesus replied. "[It was intended] that she should save this perfume for the day of my burial.

Activity: Light a fragrant candle, make an Easter Tree with crosses

Worship Week | Holy Week

We started the week out with Palm Sunday...today Jesus is cleansing the temple...

Reading for today: Mark 11:15-17

15 On reaching Jerusalem, Jesus entered the temple courts and began driving out those who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves, 16 and would not allow anyone to carry merchandise through the temple courts. 17 And as he taught them, he said, “Is it not written: ‘My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations’[c]? But you have made it ‘a den of robbers.’[d]

How is your temple....is their some cleaning that needs to done. Are there things in your life that are ripping you off from your desire to draw closer to God? I know I have some cleaning to do. Don't we all?

Activity: Make Pretzels or bread and take to someone God lays on your heart.

Here's an encouraging video...enjoy

Worship Week - Holy week | Palm Sunday

As we begin Holy Week I thought this was an awesome worship song for that.

Matthew 21:6-9 The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them. They brought the donkey and the colt and placed their cloaks on them for Jesus to sit on. A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted,
“Hosanna[b] to the Son of David!”
“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”[c]
“Hosanna[d] in the highest heaven!”

Activity: Make Palm Branches or find some outside and put them on your fireplace mantle or somewhere visible.

"He is Risen" Celebration

Over the years I have posted several posts in regards to Easter. I refer back to them often to see what I've done. This year I will be referring back to them, as my mind is preoccupied and I've lost my memory. This helps me remember. It has been a crazy beginning of April and March, to say the least.

You can go check out these posts to see what we have done in the past.

Count down to Easter

My heart is already preparing for Easter. Lent begins tomorrow {Ash Wednesday} and I find myself praying about what to give up this time until Easter. There are many things that I can scrafice to drawer even closer to my Lord.

{Clairification: I wanted to claify that this something that not everyone does, we just have decided as a family to take this time, as we do every other day and Holiday, to draw even closer to God. It helps us to prepare our hearts, focus more on the events that took place during this special time and make it special. Take a closer look, dig a little deeper. This is not for everyone and everyone's convictions on this are different. That is between you and the Lord....}

We begin with Lent....
Lent is the 40 days, not counting Sundays, before Easter. There are a few things that I have found that we as a family could do together, activities to make this time special as a family to remember what our Lord and Savior did for us.

We will be doing a 42 Day Devotional and will also be Making an Easter Tree {lordwilling}. Below are just a few activities to do during this time to prepare your heart for Easter.
  1. Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent, gets its name from an ancient tradition of throwing ashes on one's head to demonstrate sorrow for sins. I explain to my girls that Lent is not a time to be gloomy, but a time to consider how much we need the salvation that Christ secured for us. He sacrificed His life for us, so we can sacrifice something for Him. {Our time and what we do with it is something that we are praying about what are things that are taking up our time to drawing closer to Him and removing them.}
  2. Buy an Easter lily for your home. The lily symbolizes new life because something so strikingly fragrant and beautiful grows from a lifeless-looking bulb. { I am allergic to these so the fake ones will do}. Burn a candle, play worship music.
  3. The season of Lent alternates times of remembering Christ's suffering with celebrating the Resurrection (every Sunday during the season). Make a special dinner, play special music on this night, light a calendar. Go throught the events that took place during this time.
  4. Lent is traditionally a season for "giving up" as a symbolic, outward act of identifying with Christ's suffering. Your child may want to choose something to "sacrifice" for the 40 days of Lent—trips to McDonald's, after-school TV, chocolate, playstation, x-box, wii..etc..And for you maybe a social media lent.
  5. Explain the word redemption, using the dictionary definition as well as the Christian doctrine (hints: "recovering ownership" and "restoring value=").
  6. Repentance Box, we write down our sins on paper and put them in a box...that will be destroyed! A way to prepare our hearts to be purified.
  7. Worship together ..one of my favorite songs this time of year is "Glorious Day..
  8. Help your child understand why Jesus was called "the Lamb of God" (his role as the unblemished sacrifice: Ex. 12:21-24; John 1:29; 1 Cor. 5:7-8). With your child, make a lamb. Glue cotton balls to a small paper plate, then add pink and black construction-paper eyes, ears, muzzle, nose and hooves.
  9. Read or summarize Exodus 12:1-42 to give an older child a context for the Passover celebration that Jesus observed the last week before his death. Explain Christ's death as the ultimate sacrifice for sin and discuss the significance of God giving up his firstborn Son.
  10. Make an Easter Tree..go here for the directions on that
These are just a few ideas|activities to do as a family. As time permits and as the Lord leads. But first pray seek the Lord and see if this is something He wants you to do. The first time we did something like this I started 2 weeks before Easter, it's totally up to you and how you are lead. This is just an idea of what we do as a family. There is soo much more and as I am lead i will share. Last year I wanted to start earlier but wasn't lead to do so. This year I was lead to start early and I'm so thankful!! Going back and taking a look at all the events that happened.

God Bless you!!
In His Loving Grace,
Adrienne

Preparing Your Heart For Easter!!

Go to fullsize image

It has a been awhile, but I am glad that I am able to post something.  I pray that you are blessed and encouraged by it.

This is one of the most favorite times of the year for me and my family, along with Christmas. To remember
what our Lord and savior did for us, He gave His life for us so that we should not perish but have everlasting life {John 3:16}.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)

This is also a great time to reach out to the unsaved in our lives. Invite them to church, they are usually more open to going on Easter and Christmas. Be in prayer about who the Lord would have you invite to church.

A few things we try to do every year is give up something until Easter, {ie..tv, computer, social media, hobby, something that maybe takes away your focus from God}. Yes, it can be hard, but you can do all things through Christ Jesus who gives you strength -Phil 4:13. It is a way to prepare our hearts in rememberance of Jesus Death and Resurrection for us. Jesus gave His life for us, it is the least my family can do during this time. Sometimes we extend the lent until after Easter, but be in prayer about that and see if that is what He has for you and your family. During this time we are remembering the lowest points of sin and the highest peaks of what God has done for us through Jesus. We have a way, the only way, to the Father through Jesus. That's worth celebrating!

During Holy Week, the week before Easter Sunday, we will read every day {if we can} the events that took place during Holy week. We were blessed a couple years back, by some precious friends, with a book called "He is Alive". It's a great book that recounts the last days of Jesus on earth and the first days after His resurrection. It has such beautiful captivating illustrations, it's so-real. In reading the scriptures and reading the book it helps my children to develop a deeper understanding of the truth that Jesus is Alive!! And He is alive in us and because of that, we can live victoriously!!! And spread His love to others. Amen!!

Here is what our reading for Holy Week looks like, we also gather the items{optional} so that it's more hands on:

HOLY WEEK

Sunday: Palm Sunday - Matthew 21. A palm branch.
Monday: Cleansing the temple - Mark 11. A whip.
Tuesday: Jesus anointed - John 12. A small beaded box.
Wednesday: Judas plots - Matthew 26. A bag with silver coins.
Thursday: The Last Supper - Luke 22. A loaf of bread and a cup.
Friday: Crucifixion - Luke 23. A cross.
Saturday: Mystery Saturday - I Peter 3:18-22. No ornament.
Sunday: HE IS RISEN! - Mark 16. A clay tomb - empty.
Monday: The marriage supper of the Lamb - Revelation 19. A placemat with golf silverware.

I would have loved to have started the 42 days before, but I was not lead to do so. I do have the scriptures for the 42 days, if you would like for me to send them to you just leave me a comment and your email address.

During Holy Week we also attend our church services starting with Palm Sunday, Midweek Svc, Good Friday Service and Easter Sunday. Our Pastor does amazing services that prepare our hearts throughout the whole week leading up to Easter. I strongly encourage you to attend any services your church offers.

A few recipes we have used throughout the years to also celebrate. One is Resurrection Rolls, it has a great meaning behind it, not only the making of it but that it symbolizes what He did. See below also I found this video {click on video <---}that explains how to make these too.

Ingredients:

1 can refrigerated crescent roll dough
8 large marshmallows
Melted butter
Cinnamon
Sugar

Directions:
Give each child one triangle shaped section of crescent roll. This represents the tomb.
Each child takes one marshmallow which represents the body of Christ.
Dip the marshmallow in the butter and roll in cinnamon and sugar mixture. This represents the oils and spices the body was anointed with upon burial.
Lay the marshmallow on the dough and carefully wrap it around the marshmallow.
Make sure all seams are pinched together well. (Otherwise the marshmallow will "ooze" out of the seams)
Bake according to package directions.
Cool.
Break open the tomb and the body of Christ is no longer there!!
Celebrate God's love!

This is a fun way to share the resurrection with your children. We will eat these Easter Morning before church. Yummy!! Woman Living Well has shared this recipe on her sight as well with pics, so you can get an idea of what to do. I'm a visual person and need visuals.

Another Recipe that I will be trying this year, that I didn't get to last year, is the Easter Story Resurrection Cookies. It has a lesson that goes along with it with scriptures, these you make the night before. Go to Easy Fun School to check out the full story and recipe. Let me know how you like it. I love your comments by the way.

Another way to reach out is have a Resurrection Egg Hunt at your house or a park and invite family, friends, neighbors {Prayerfully of course}. It's the alternative to the Secular Egg Hunting, there is meaning behind it. You can make your own resurrection eggs or by one at your local store, I've seen them at craft stores too. Check out Easy Fun School to make your own and watch this video she also explains it really well at Cullens ABC's. I'm a DIYer so this is always fun for me and the kids every year to get them ready. I've been using this for a couple of years now, great for your Sunday School Class too {of course get permission first}.

I pray this will bless you. These are just some of our family traditions that we do every year that help to draw us closer and get a better understanding of what Jesus did for us. Feel free to use these, if you feel lead to do so.

May the Lord bless you and keep and make His face to shine upon you and give you peace.

God Bless You, and I pray that you and your family have a blessed Easter.

It's not about the Easter Bunny, it's about JESUS.......He is Risen.......He is Risen indeed!!!

What is the Truth?

What is the truth?
Truth is not a feeling. Truth is not an idea. The truth is found in the Bible.Sincerity and good works do not bridge the gap of sin between God and man. Only the blood of Jesus can cleanse a person (Heb. 9:22; John 14:6). Sincerity and good works are merely the reliance upon what is in the individual to merit favor with God. Sincerity is a form of pride when it is appealed to as a justification for being accepted by God: "But God, look at my heart. See how sincere I was? I deserve to be in heaven."No. If sincerity and good works were good enough to satisfy God, then He wouldn't have given us the Bible to correct our sincerely wrong ideas, and He wouldn't have sent His Son to do what our good works cannot.Truth is what God says is true. The truth is important not because it is simply true. It is important because truth is what defines who and what we believe in.Eternity is a long time to be wrong. Especially about Jesus.

What me and my Family Believe

What We Believe
WE BELIEVE the worship of God should be spiritual! Therefore we remain flexible so the Holy Spirit may direct our worship.
WE BELIEVE the worship of God should be inspirational! Therefore we give a great place to music in our worship.
WE BELIEVE the worship of God should be intelligent! Therefore, in our services, we emphasize Bible teaching so God may instruct us how He would be worshipped.
WE BELIEVE the worship of God should be fruitful! Therefore we look for His love in our lives as the greatest evidence that we are truly worshipping Him.

How To Know God

How to Know God

Realize that you are a sinner. No matter how good a life we try to live, we still fall miserably short of being a good person. That is because we are all sinners. We all fall short of God’s desire for us to be holy. The Bible says, “No one is good—not even one” (Romans 3:10 NLT). This is because we cannot become who we are supposed to be without Jesus Christ.Recognize that Jesus Christ died on the cross for you.The Bible tells us, “But God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while were still sinners” (Romans 5:8 NLT). This is the Good News, that God loves us so much that He sent His only Son to die in our place when we least deserved it.Repent of your sin.The Bible tells us to “repent and be converted” (Acts 3:19 NKJV). The word repent means to change our direction in life. Instead of running from God, we can run toward Him.Receive Jesus Christ into your life.Becoming a Christian is not merely believing some creed or going to church on Sunday. It is having Christ Himself take residence in your life and heart. Jesus said, “Behold, I stand at the door (of your life) and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in...” (Revelation 3:20 NKJV).

If you would like to have a relationship with Christ, simply pray this prayer and mean it in your heart.

Dear Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner. I believe you died for my sins. Right now, I turn from my sins and open the door of my heart and life. I confess you as my personal Lord and Savior. Thank you for saving me. Amen.If you just prayed that prayer and meant it, Jesus Christ has now taken residence in your heart! Your decision to follow Christ means God has forgiven you and that you will spend eternity in heaven.

The Bible tells us, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9 NKJV).

Praise the Lord, if you just asked Jesus in your heart I want you to know that the Angels in Heaven are rejoicing for you and so am I. Go to http://www.calvarychapel.com/?show=Churches and click on churches to find the closest church to you and go. Go and tell them that you've just accepted the Lord Jesus Christ into your heart. They will be able to lead you to the next step.

God Bless you Brethren.
In the Mighty Name of Jesus!!! Amen!!!
Your sister in Christ Jesus!!!
