I am joining Sarah Mae with her challenge for "Savoring September". And I am so loving decorating and getting ready FALL. And will be sharing with you what I've done..... Yes, it's been so much fun!
Here are my "Fallonizing My Home" ideas this week:
Here are just a few things I have done. If you don't have that much it's OK, start small. When I first started decorating I used things I had on hand, and then brought stuff from the outside in like: pine cones, leaves etc. That was when I first started decorating for fall, many years ago and little by little I accumulated a few things. You can view previous posts here, here, here, and here.
Also the best time to shop for Holiday deco is after the Holidays, you will get stuff at rock bottom prices from 70-90% off. Even now, if you can't wait until after, they have 40-50% off Fall stuff. You just have to look and keep an eye out. I also scored allot of great stuff at yard sales, thrift stores and discount stores. the dollar tree and 99 cents stores have tons of cute stuff too. So really you can put together some cute stuff in no time. It doesn't have to be fancy, just whatever gives you warm fuzzies. LOL...so here is what I did. Every ones taste is different, so go with what you like.
Before Fallonizing: Dining Room Tables-cape |
After Fallonization: Dining Tablescape {simple, nothing fancy] |
Before: Dining Room Hutch |
After: Dining Room Hutch |
You can also start out with a small candle that has a fall scent to it, there are so many yummy smelling candles out there. I have a Scentsy candle, I got many many years ago and it's still working. But Walmart sells those types of candle warmers for cheap. But they don't work as well as the Scentsy one, I have both. Walmart also sells the little candle cubes to put in them for really cheap as well. My family is allergic to regular wick candles so I don't burn those. But I do have them around the house as deco, but don't use them. The Scentsy candle warmer, has so far, worked the best. The smells resonate for a long time in the house and it doesn't bother us too much.
So to start out:
{here's my list}
- Fall Aroma: Light a Fall scented, yummy, candle. CHECK
- Fall Decorations: This week pull out a few fallish decorations, as I've done already, and begin to prepare your home for a new season!! CHECK

Pumpkin Spice Latte, Pumpkin Bread & Coffee Cake {made this, this Sat morn'in} |
Denise in Bloom shared a Fall recipe, on her blog on Friday, "Pumpkin Banana Chocolate Chip Bread" {check it out here} . It makes a ton I used one regular loaf pan and had 3 mini loafs. I shared one with a friend and they liked it. Family loved it as well, this one is a keeper.
Since I couldn't make it to Starbucks this morning I decided to make my own Pumpkin Spice latte to accompany my breakfast desserts {see pics above}. I've posted this recipe before, go check it out...click here. I make this throughout the Fall every year.

- Reflect: I loved the quote Sarah Mae posted. CHECK
“Let’s think of Autumn as a season of reflection. Time to gain new perspective. To stroll along the back roads of our minds. To think about what. And where. And why. Such visits through the museum of memory never fail to assist us in evaluating the way we were and establishing the way we want to be.” -Chuck Swindoll, Growing Strong in the Seasons of Life - See more
- This week, take some time to think about your life. What are you hoping for this year? What are some areas that you’d like to see a maturing in your life? Your kids lives? Journal out one area you’d like to be intentional about this month – an area of strength that you’d like to improve, or perhaps a weakness you’d like to address. Just focus on one thing. Working on this
Happy Fallonizing your home!!
