This month is graduation month for our school. I wanted to share these easy DIY Graduation caps. I used these for my middle daughters Kindergarden graduation. They are so sweet and really easy to make.
Here's what you will need:
- Black Cardstock 12x12
- Scizzors
- Glue or Glue Runner
- Hole Punch {kind that you can punch in middle of paper}
- Tape
- Paper Cutter
- Yarn
1st Step: Fold corners as shown in picture, it will look like a diamond shape when you are finished. See picture below
Once it looks like diamond, as shown above you are going to fold it as shown here. It's about an inch at the fold. you are going to do that at each corner and glue down as shown in the picture below.
Then you are going to punch a hole in the middle of the hat.
You are going to need to 2- 12 x 2 inch strips.
You want to glue one of the strips ends together. So it will create a circle.
Next take that circle and tape the sides to the hat.
Then fold it into an oval shape as shown here and glue the triangular sides to the outer circle.
Once it's glued together fold as so in this picture.
It will then look like the cap.
Cut off any excess paper sticking out, as shown here.
Next get your yarn to make your tassell Cut about 12 inches.
Then you are going to wrap it around the second stripe of paper.
Once wrapped around completely cut it, as shown here.
Then take another piece of yarn as shown here to tie the tassel together.
Once tied cut the bottom of the yarn, as shown here.
It will look like this.
Then you are going to pinch the tassel together as shown here and cut another piece of yarn about 3 inches and tie about 1/2 inch down the tassel, as shown below.
Cut the end pieces of the knot.
Whola you are done with the tassel.
Next you are going to take the end of the tassel and put it through the hole you punched earlier. Turn the hat upside down and tie a knot in the tassel and then tape it down pretty tightly, as show below.
and Whola!! your done! Isn't it so sweet. I love this and can't wait to use it on my little one when she graduates pre-k. That will be in about 3-4 years. LOL I'm already planning it. :)
Here are some other things I made for decoration for the graduation. I loved it!
I also made these yummy graduation hat treats! Aren't they so cute....leave me a comment if you want the tutorial for that. I would love to show you that.
